SOBOTA, John -- Age 84, of Swartz Creek, died Monday, October 1, 2007 at his residence. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, October 4 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Swartz Creek, Fr. Amos Wischmeyer celebrant. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, where a rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM Wednesday. Mr. Sobota was born in Starcza, Poland, on September 30, 1923 the son of Anthony and Agnes (Krawczyk) Sobota. He had resided in Swartz Creek since 1951. He was married to Geraldine Valasek on November 26, 1955 at St. Mary's in Swartz Creek. He owned and operated Johnny's Plumbing, the North End Party Store, and many other businesses. He was a member of St. Mary's Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Dom Polski, and was a former member of the Sea League of America. Surviving are: wife, Geraldine; two sons, Richard of Burton, Daniel of Swartz Creek; grandson, Jacob Sobota of Swartz Creek; seven siblings in Poland; and many nieces and nephews.
