SMIRNOFF, John, age 87, of Flint, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Genesys Convalescent Center in Grand Blanc. Funeral Services will be 11AM Friday, July 20, 2007 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. (just south of Hill Rd.)Pastor Walter Oelhafen officiating. Interment will be 1PM Monday, July 23, 2007 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be Thursday 4-8PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society. John was born on January 20, 1920 in Detroit, the son of Zachary Sy and Marie Mary Smirnoff. He was a 1938 graduate of Flint Northern High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. John married Pauletta M. Floyd on October 16, 1943 in Maryland, was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was employed by General Motors as a store keeper, retiring in 1981 after 43 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Pauletta of Flint; daughter, Cheryl and husband Stan Brunske of Fairfield Glade, TN; son, Gerald and wife Margo of Flint; sister, Anna Allen and brother, William; grandchildren; Addam (Dana), Shawn & Lynette (David); great-grandchildren; Hannah, Joshua & Nolan.
