SIMOR, John J. - Age 89, of Clayton Township, died Wednesday, February 15, 2006 in Flushing. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30AM Saturday, February 18, 2006 at St. Robert Catholic Church, 310 North Cherry Street, Flushing, Fr. Louis Ekka celebrant. Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-9PM Thursday, 1-4 and 6-9PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. A rosary and K of C service will begin at 6:30PM Friday at the funeral home. Family and friends will gather at the church from 9:30AM Saturday until the time of the mass. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Robert School. Mr. Simor was born January 9, 1917 in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of John and Pauline (Belica) Simor. He married Frances Mary Merinsky on October 2, 1937, she preceded him in death in 1994. He served two one year terms in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Houghton Lake and the Upper Peninsula. He was employed for Buick Motor Division as a Set-up Man, retiring in 1973 after 36 years of service. He was a lifelong farmer. Mr. Simor was a member of St. Robert Catholic Church in Flushing and UAW Local 599. He is survived by: son, John F. Simor of Flint; granddaughter, Ann and husband Matthew Hartmann of Clayton Township; three great-grandchildren, Luke, Mary Frances, and Margaret; half-sister, Mary Smejkal of Corunna. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; half-brother, Frank Turschan; and half-sister, Anna Lechman. Friends may share a condolence or post a tribute at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
