SCHNIERS, John R. age 74 of Linden, died December 2, 2022, at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Thursday with a funeral service at 6 PM Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, MI 48430. The burial service and veteran's honors will be held 11 AM Friday, December 9, 2022, at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Red Cross Blood Services (www.redcross.org) or donate blood to the American Red Cross as John so often did in service to others. He recently passed 10 gallons in blood donation. John was born August 4, 1948, in Detroit, the son of Rudolph and Evelyn (Davis) Schniers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a radio operator, while in Germany, during the Vietnam era. John retired from Sprint working in telecommunications most of his life. He was an avid amateur photographer. Surviving are: two children, Heather (Corey) Haines and Paul Schniers (Christian); two grandchildren, Hannah and Logan Haines; siblings, Frances (Bill) White, James (Marianne) Schniers, Bill (Mary) Schniers, Teri (John) Olbrot, Dan (Roberta) Schniers, Patty (Mike) Chambers, Rudy (Janet) Schniers, and Anne (Bob) Rays; brother-in-law, Richard Poupard; and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents; son, John R. Schniers, Jr; and sister, Marge Poupard.
