John Schanick

SCHANICK, John Henry - age 77, of Flint, died May 11, 2021. Anatomical donation to Michigan State University has taken place and private services will be held. John was born January 13, 1944 in Flint, MI, the son of John Henry and Alberta Esther (Wilkinson) Schanick. He was a 1962 of Grand Blanc High School and attended Trade School at Mott Community College. John married Barbara Ann Boone on December 25, 1976 in Holly. He retired from General Motors in 1993 after 31 years of service. John loved playing golf and working on cars. Surviving are: wife, Barbara of Flint; five children, John (Julie) Schanick III, Patrick (Mary) Dowell, Jeffery Schanick, Carrie (TJ) Larson, and Jamie Fogle; 11 grandchildren, Maegan, Jacob, Austin, Ryan, Melissa (Marcus), Marcella (Eric), Hannah, Heather (Jim), Emily, Jordan, and Jonah; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice (Don) Markee and Sandy (Bill) Keeler. He was preceded in death by: parents; son, William Edward Dowell; two grandchildren, Kendall and William.
