RUTHERFORD, John David of Brighton, MI - age 65, passed away Monday, November 2, 2009. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, November 6, 2009 at St.John Vianney Catholic Parish, 2415 Bagley St.in Flint, Father Firestone and Father Osborn celebrants. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Home, Miller Rd. Chapel. 8138 Miller Rd. in Swartz Creek 1-4PM and 6-9PM Thursday, November 5 and at St. John Vianney from 10 AM until the time of service Friday, November 6. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association and Susan G.Komen for the Cure.The son of David and Annabelle (Young) Rutherford, John was born August 17, 1944 in Flint, MI. He was a graduate of Flint Central High School 1962, General Motors Institute-Industrial Engineering 1967, and Central Michigan University-Masters 1980, and a veteran of the U.S.Army. John married Carol Anne (McGovern) July 12, 1969 at St. John Vianney Catholic Parish in Flint. He retired from Ford Motor Company in 2002 after 30 years of dedicated service. He had resided in Brighton for 32 years and was a member of the Cylce Conservation Club. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, John is survived by his wife Carol Anne; 2 daughters, Kimberly and husband Robert Shaner of Shelby Township, and Stacey Rutherford of Brighton; 3 grandchildren, Ryan, Chelsea, and Abigail Shaner; 5 brothers-in-law, Gene Cook of IL, Nort Chapman of Fenton, Paul and JoAnn McGovern of Davison, Philip and Mary Ellen McGovern of Waterford, and Leon and Cheryl McGovern of NV;16 nieces and nephews; and many friends.
