John Roberts

ROBERTS, John Bernard - Age 85, of Linden, passed away Monday, September 12, 2022.  Per John's request, cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date.
John was born September 9, 1937 in Detroit, the son of Edward and Rose (Siefker) Roberts.  He was a 1955 graduate of Detroit Catholic Central High School.  He received an Associates Degree from Wayne County Community College.  John married Elaine Carol Mahn on August 8, 1959 in Detroit. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Military Police.  He retired in 1983 from the Detroit Police Department as a Detective Sergeant after 26 years of Service.  John was active in his community, serving as union steward and elected as Democratic precinct delegate.  He enjoyed hunting and in later years spending vacations with his grandchildren.
Surviving are: his wife of 63 years, Elaine; children, Linda (Marc) Roberts Greenblatt of South Burlington, VT, Michael (Ann Marie) Roberts of Rochester Hills, and Lisa (Kent) Wabel of Linden; son-in-law, Michael Conway of Holt; 8 grandchildren; sister, Rosalie (Carl) Kerr of Howell; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Bonnie Conway; brothers, Joseph, Edward, and David Roberts; and sisters, Florence Balduf and Maryann Poikey.  Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
