POST, John - Of Gaines Twp., died and his spirit returned to God who gave it on Wednesday, April 15, 2009. He died at his residence after fighting brain cancer with God's help. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, April 20, 2009 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Rev. Randall Johnson officiating. Burial in Yerian Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral homes Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM and Monday from 12:00 PM until time of service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Owosso Memorial Health Care Radiation Shuttle, Great Lakes Cancer Institute, McLaren Hospital in Flint or Our Savior Lutheran Church in Perry, MI. John was born in Owosso, MI on October 18, 1943. He was the son of John and Erma (Papenfuss) Post. He attended North Duffield School and graduated from Durand High School in 1961. God blessed him with a wonderful wife, Sharon Colleen Crawford. They made their vows before God to become one in Holy Matrimony in the Duffield Methodist Church on January 12, 1963. God blessed them with two sons and one daughter. John lived most of his life on the family farm on Hill Road in Gaines Twp. He worked for Postdale Farms, Post Gravel Pit and Chevrolet V8 Engine in Flint, where he retired after 30 years of service. The things he enjoyed most in life were studying God's Word and making wine. He was a member of Bible Study Fellowship, Our Savior Lutheran Church in Perry and UAW Local 659. John leaves behind in God's care to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Sharon; two sons, John of Durand and Matthew and wife Shana of Bancroft; three grandchildren, John Anthony Post and Mechelle Post of Houston, TX and Daniel Post of Bancroft; great granddaughter, Jazlynn Post of Houston, TX; his mother, Erma Post of Durand; two sisters, Nancy Gilbert of Durand and Shirley Cross and husband Dick of Swartz Creek; aunts, nieces, nephews and friends, including special nieces, Lori Ladd and husband Jamie and Shiela Wightman, who is keeping the Post family memories alive by her great work on the family tree. John was preceded in death by his father, John and infant daughter, Tina Marie. On life condolences and tributes may be posted at the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
