PETTIT, John H., age 75, of Gaines, died Tuesday, March 5, 2008 at Crestmont Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 1PM Friday, March 7, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Rev. John Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Gaines. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association,East Central Michigan, G-3287 Beecher Rd., Flint, MI 48532 (www.alz.org). John was born March 14, 1932 in Gaines. He was the Valedictorian of Gaines High School, Class of 1950 and was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War. John was employed by  General Motors, Flint Engine Plant, retiring March 1, 1992 after 36 years of service. He loved hunting,fishing and woodworking. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Leona; 3 children, Robyn Andris (Leon) of Potomac, Maryland, Rhonda Nowicki (David)of Shelby Township, John Pettit (Lorrie) of Grand Rapids; 8 grandchildren,Kristen, Lindsay, Kelly, Clio, Nicholas, Zoe, Alison and Tyler; sister, Roberta Gooding (Laverne) of Farmington Hills; brother, Edward Pettit(June) of Jacksonville, Florida and many nieces, nephews and devoted friends. The family extends special thanks to Visiting Nurses Hospice and Crestmont Healthcare Center, Charlevoix Court for the loving care extended to John.
