MOTT, John Dominic - Age 87, of Grand Blanc, died October 20, 2020. Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Friday, October 23 at Holy Family Catholic Church, in the Father Bush Hall, 110 Bush St. Grand Blanc. Father Bill Wegher celebrant. Visitation will be held 10 AM until the time of the service. For those who are unable to attend the service Holy Family will be live streaming the service on their Facebook page @ Holy Family Grand Blanc. Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Flint Rotary Club or Flint Institute of Music. John married Patricia Ann McGrail on June 6, 1970, in Detroit and led a wonderful life together for 50 years. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Genesee Packaging. John was a president of Flint Institute of Music, Flint Rotary Club, United Way, Flint Golf Club, and the Flint City Club and served countless other organizations in and around the Flint area. Anyone who spent time with John was sure to hear a joke suitable for the present company. His love of reading and learning developed a way with words and the ability to always add something to a conversation, no matter the topic. Most of it was even true. Alongside his quick wit and generosity, his kindness stood out to many. His love of cooking evolved from "Sunday dinner maker" to full-time chef, a promotion he came to greatly enjoy. He was always experimenting with new cuisines and cooking methods and guests could be sure his delicious food would be paired with the perfect cocktail and or wine selection. He introduced his love of skiing to his children and grandchildren and helped create memories to last a lifetime. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; Amy (Mark) Busse of Grand Haven, Molly Mott of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Claudia and Kathleen; sister, Mary Kathryn Agnello of Farmington Hills; brother, Donald (Carol) Mott of Grosse Pointe Woods; sisters-in-law, Connie Mott of Harrison Twp, Sr. Kathleen McGrail O.P of NV, Maureen McGrail of East Lansing; brother-in-law, Tom (Jan) McGrail of FL; several beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tom, James (at 2 years of age) and infant brother Andrew and brother-in-laws William McGrail and Richard Agnello.
