MOORE, John Allen - Age 85, of Swartz Creek, died Sunday April 8, 2018. Visitation will be held 2 PM-8 PM Wednesday April 11 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, with a 7PM rosary being prayed at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held 10 AMThursday until time of mass at the church. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11AM Thursday April 12, 2018 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church 4413 Morrish Rd., Swartz Creek. Father Louis Ekka celebrant. Burial to follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Heart Association or Old Newsboys of Flint. John was born in Grand Rapids on October 8, 1932 the son of the late Walter and Gertrude (Bush) Moore. He married Katharine Mahoney in Flint on February 1, 1958. John proudly served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Moore retired from the G.M. Truck and Bus plant, Flint with 36 years of service. John was an avid woodworker, cartoonist, painter and enjoyed painting the lettering on race cars, boats and signs. He was a collector of many things and also enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. John was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Swartz Creek. Surviving are: wife of 60 years, Katharine of Swartz Creek; children, Kevin (Angela) Moore of Fenton, Karen (Matthew) Garvey of Fenton, Jeffrey (Toni) Moore of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Alexandrea, Kerrigan, Riley, Brendan, Nolan, Logan, Kaitlin and Kara. John is also survived by his siblings, Doris Hall of Florida, Walter Moore of Flint, Naomi Sanders of Gulliver, MI, Stewart (Elaine) Moore of Flint, Jerry (Yvonne) Moore of CA; many nieces and nephews He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy Forrest and Lucille Hatch.
