John Meier

Meier, John David- Age 93, of Swartz Creek, Michigan, died Saturday, November 29, 2014. Funeral services will be held 11AM Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Kevin Harbin officiating. Burial will follow in Byron Cemetery, Byron MI. Visitation will be held 6PM - 9PM Tuesday. Those desiring may make contributions to the National Lupus Foundation. John was born in Byron, Michigan, the son of the late Clarence D. and Vivian A. (VanAlstine) Meier. He married Dorothy Marie Allen in Maple Rapids, Michigan on August 21, 1949 and she preceded him in death on January 1998. John graduated from Byron High School class of 1938 and from Michigan State College in 1948. He served his country in the Navy during WWII. Mr. Meier worked for the Swartz Creek School District as a Teacher and Administrator for 36 years, retiring in 1984. John served on the Swartz Creek planning committee and was a member of the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church. Surviving are: 3 sons Randall Jon ( Suzette ) of Traverse City, MI, Danny Ross ( Jacqueline ) of White Lake, MI, Ronald Dee ( Sherry ) of Mt. Pleasant, MI; 8 grandchildren, Kristy, David, Emma, Sarah, Lauren, Andrew, Ryan, Robin; 2 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins and dear friend, Jeanette Bean.
