DRLIK, John Martin M.D. (Jack) Â age 68, died of a brain tumor in Yakima, Washington on July 21, 2005. Jack was born July 1, 1937 to John Drlik and Beth (Haist) Drlik of Swartz Creek. He graduated from Durand High School in 1955 and attended the University of Michigan. Jack married Cynthia Thompson in 1959 and received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1960. He was employed with the Caterpillar Company in Illinois and with the Cooper Bessemer Company of Ohio. Jack returned to the University of Michigan for pre-med and four years of medical school, graduating in 1971. Dr. Drlik interned and completed his residency in California. Dr. Drlik was an avid Wolverine fan. He enjoyed many activities with his children including backpacking, tennis, horseback riding, skiing and cooking. Dr. Drlik was a man of dignity and reserve as well as a skilled mimic and expert storyteller who remembered and retold jokes with great enjoyment. Dr. Drlik was a loving father and devoted grandfather. Dr. Drlik served Washington Hospital in Fremont, California as a psychiatrist, Medical Director and Chief of Staff from 1975-1994. In 1994 he became Medical Director at Central Washington Comprehensive Mental Health in Yakima. He retired from the agency with his cancer diagnosis in 2002. Jack married Jane Elizabeth Lotz on May 5, 2000. They made the most of their five years together and fought Jacks cancer as a team. Jack and Jane were blessed to find each other. Dr. Drlik enjoyed golf, was a member of the Southwest Rotary and an active parishioner at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Yakima. Dr. Drlik is survived by: his wife, Jane; his three children, Andy and wife, Sherry of Vancouver, Washington, Jennifer Cappalonga and husband, Phil of Portland, Oregon, and Sarah Drlik and husband, Darren Treinen of Santa Rosa, California; also, four grandsons, Drew, Will, Danny and Garret; his brother, Les and wife, Eva of Durand; sister, Jane Griesa and husband, Tim of Wyoming, Delaware; numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents, John and Beth Drlik. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, July 30, 2005 at the funeral home with Fr. Roy Horning officiating. Interment will follow services at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery in Grand Blanc.
