John Edward McDONALD

McDONALD, John Edward - age 81, of Byron formerly of Livonia, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 East Broad Street, Linden. Visitation will be held 6-9 PM Friday and 10:00 AM until the time of service Saturday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Karmanos Cancer Institute. John was born April 29, 1930 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the son of George and Ruth (Ferland) McDonald. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He married Algeta Rose Giantoni in Detroit, on August 23, 1952 and she preceded him in death on July 26, 2005. Mr. McDonald worked for Marcella Industries and 3PM Inc. Surviving are 3 children, Michael and wife Julie McDonald of Livonia, Jeffery McDonald and Kate Anderson of Byron, Janice and husband Jeff Miller of Brighton; 8 grandchildren, Kelly (Matt) Murphy of Midland, Leah McDonald of Aspen, CO., Jillian McDonald of Chicago, IL., Patrick Miller of Brighton, Shannon McDonald of Livonia, Matthew Miller of Brighton, Andrew Miller of Brighton and Alison McDonald of Livonia; greatgrandson, Connor Murphy; 3 brothers, George McDonald, Robert McDonald and Patrick Glancy; 2 sisters, Louise Marr and Mary Colopy; several nieces and nephews.
