John L. Jarvie

JARVIE, John L., age 80 of Flint, died at Briarwood Manor, Wednesday, November 9, 2005.  Mr. Jarvie was born in Flint February 11, 1925 a son of John M. and Margaret (Laird) Jarvie. He was a lifelong resident of the Flint area.  He married Edith Hathaway, April 29, 1950 and she preceded him in death on May 4, 2005.  Mr. Jarvie was an insurance agent having owned and operated the Jarvie Agency, Inc. for 43 years.  He retired in 1989.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Elks Club and The Independent Insurance Association.Surviving is a daughter, Jan Newcombe of Flint: two grandchildren, T.J. Newcombe and Jaime Newcombe both of Flint.  Also surviving is a brother: Robert Jarvie of Arizona; a sister-in-law Nancy Jarvie of Arizona. In addition to his wife, Mr. Jarvie was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William Jarvie,  George Jarvie and his son-in-law, Terry Newcombe.  Services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, November 11, 2005 at the Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Rd. (Just South of Hill Rd.)  Rev. Berniece Matejcek will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday.  Friday, visitation will be from 12 noon until service time.
