Duberg, John Thomas 'Jack" and Therese Joann (Kirt) Duberg - Age 94, of Fenton, a beautiful love story where heaven gained two angels on December 10, 2023. John passed away to be joined within hours, by his beloved wife of 73 years, Therese. A celebration of life will be held in May, 2024. Burial will be held May 20, 2024 at St. Mary Cemetery, Lake Leelanau. Those desiring may make contributions to Mid Michigan Hospice. Jack lovingly known as "Big Daddy" was born February 6, 1929 in Detroit, Mi., the son of Joseph and Mary Duberg, After 35 years of dedicated service, Lieutenant Duberg retired from plant security at General Motors Flint V8 Engine and Flint Metal Fab Plants in 1985. Many may remember him from working 3rd shift at Exit 80 where he loved to play pranks on the regular customers. Jack enjoyed bowling, camping, card club, casino's and was a die hard Lions and Tigers fan. Therese was born April 3, 1929 in Flint, Mi., the daughter of John C. and Nettie (Coyle) Kirt. Her mother died at childbirth. Being that her father had 7 children, as an infant, she was raised by her aunt and uncle until adolescence. Therese was a kind and loving soul who loved life and had an amazing sense of humor. She was a devoted and amazing wife, mother and grandmother. While raising her family, she held many jobs, making grave blankets for Crestwood Cemetery, coat check at the Hyatt Regency in Flint, Burton Printing producing church bulletins. Therese too enjoyed card club, and visiting the casino's with Jack. She loved a great find and would frequent resale shops and garage sales. Her generosity towards her family will be missed as they were often the grateful recipient of the treasures she uncovered while thrifting. Above all Jack and Therese were devouted Catholics, they cherished their family and friends. Blessed with wonderful neighbors on Eddy Lake Road, they created lasting memories. Loving parents and grandparents, they attended numerous school events, hosted family trips, and celebrated life. Adored by all, they exemplified Christian love. There was no question that they were the most devoted couple and set a wonderful example of life and love. Jack and Therese are survived by their children, Carol Ann, John (Rebecca) Jr., Gregory Donald, Rose Marie (Jeff), Kevin Gerard (Mary Evelyn); 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; two sisters. Therese was preceded in death by her parents; 5 siblings.
