John Isaac

ISAAC, John (Hannah)- Age 91, of Flint Township passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 in Grand Blanc, MI. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 16, 2018 at St. George Orthodox Church, 5191 Lennon Road, Flint, The Very Reverend Joseph Abud officiating. Interment will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. On Thursday, February 15, 2018 visitation will be held from 4-7 PM at St. George Orthodox Church after which a Trisagion funeral service will be held at 7 PM. Visitation will also be held Friday, February 16 at the Church from 10-11 AM. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. George Orthodox Church. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. John was born on January 15, 1927 in Amman, Jordan. As a young man he lived in Beit Sahour, Palestine where he met Helen (Helwa) Isaac his beloved wife of 65 years. John was a loving father and husband. He is survived by his brother Abdanour Sahouri, his sons, Jirius and his wife, Khulude; Sam and his wife Jeanette; Richard and his wife Linda. He leaves five grandchildren, Jadalla, Isam, Mathew, Kameel and Alisa. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen, his daughter Doreen, his brother Elias Isaac, sisters Badia Badar and Rabiah Daoud of Beit Sahour, his sister-in law, Angel Sahouri of Grand Blanc and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, close friends, and extended family. John and Helen immigrated to Flint from Beit Sahour in 1953 with their first two sons, Jirius and Sam. Richard was born once they arrived in Flint. John was a devoted husband and father. He first worked as an assembly line worker for GM and later saved enough money to open a successful grocery store business. After retirement he pursued his favorite hobby of restoring and selling used cars. He was also an avid golfer. He golfed in Florida, Arizona and, of course, in Flint.
