The ultimate salesman, Jack was creative, optimistic and lovable. He would humbly say that he was just a salesman and that he left company operations in the hands of the "smart people." however, he started/lead several businesses and owned numerous patents. Jack co-founded Compak and Webcor and founded Security Packaging, Inc. In addition, Jack's entrepreneur spirit prompted him to participate and invest in various other ventures during his many years as a Flint business leader. Jack was committed to the Flint community and always encouraged and supported new business ventures. Jack started his career in 1957 as a high school teacher and coach at St. Michael's High School after attending Wayne State University on a football scholarship. Jack was a standout area athlete earning 15 high school varsity letters. (Football, basketball baseball and track). When no longer an athlete or coach, Jack transitioned into #1 fan of the Powers Catholic athletic program. Jack and Sally could be found fall, winter and spring in the stands of every contest, where Jack's telltale cheers "Be Ready" or "When in doubt shoot" could be joyfully heard. John Daley Goggins was raised in an Irish Catholic family. He was a long time member of both, St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Flint and St. Robert Church, Flushing. His children and 11 grandchildren all attend(ed) St. Robert School and Powers Catholic High School. He was also a member of Flushing Valley Golf and Country Club, Knights of Columbus, Ancient order of Hibernians, and the Michigan Republican Party. To Jack, being "green" meant being Irish. He was very proud of his Irish heritage and he played some part in all local Irish events. His home is filled with shamrocks and if it was left to Jack everything was painted green. With every business success Jack felt strongly that he must share the fruit of his success with his church and community. In his youth, his family experienced great generosity from the community and he believed that it was extremely important to repay that same community. Jack's generous spirit was felt by all who knew him through his encouraging words, enthusiasm and financial support. Surviving are: wife, Sally; children, Teresa (Michael) Witt, Cindy Joy Goggins, Marijane (Jim) Maceri, Lanie (Rick) Valley, Joseph (Jo Jo) Goggins, Andy (Sarah) Goggins; grandchildren, Preston, Bradford and Meredith Witt, Liz, Teresa and Michelle Valley, Lauren, Karleigh and Morgan Goggins, Drew and Lily Goggins; siblings, Michael Goggins, Thomas (Carol) Goggins, Mary (Bill) Potbury, and Edward (Kaygie) Goggins; in-laws, John (Lois) Lawrence, Judy (Pat) Mulcahy Patricia (Charles) Hynes, William Lawrence, and Peggy Goggins; 30 nieces and nephews.
