John Gilmore

GILMORE, John Warren - Age 91, of Swartz Creek, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Swartz Creek.  Fr. Louis Ekka celebrant.  Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint.  Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek Monday from 4-8 PM, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM; and visitation Tuesday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass.  Those desiring may make contributions to St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church or Swartz Creek Community Food Basket.

John was born May 7, 1931 in Flint, the son of George E. and Neva M. (Quigley) Gilmore.  He was a 1949 graduate of Swartz Creek High School and he received an Associate Degree in Science from Flint Junior College (Mott Community College).  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.  He had resided in Swartz Creek most of his life.  He retired from Hurley Medical Center as a Medical Technologist. John was devoted to his catholic faith and was a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church.  He also was a member of the Swartz Creek Knights of Columbus.  He started the Flint Skating club, where he was involved in pairs skating and was a judge for skating competitions.  John was an extremely talented man.  He was a precision quilter.  He enjoyed woodworking, remodeling homes and landscaping.

He will be dearly missed by: his sisters, Rita Bensch of West Branch/Swartz Creek and Evelyn (Scott) Abernethy of Pasco, WA; 8 nieces and nephews, 20 grand nieces and nephews, and 4 great-great grand nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Dr. George E.
