John Covert GIBBS

GIBBS, John Covert "Jack" - Age 62, of Fenton, died Saturday, June 16, 2012 at his residence. Services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, with Pastor Darrell Patterson officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Those desiring may make contributuions to Heartland Hospice. John was born August 6, 1949 in Flint, the son of James Ivan and Helen Marie (Covert) Gibbs. He was a 1967 graduate of Fenton High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. John married Carol Sue Cole July 15, 1972 in Fenton and she preceded him in death August 19, 2005. He retired from GM Delphi. He had lived on Lake Fenton since the early 1980's. Surviving are: 2 sisters, Wilma Morse of Holly and Mary and husband Earl Arnold of East Tawas; niece, Tracy and husband Tim Matlewski; nephew, Malcolm Gibbs; 2 great nephews, Timothy Thomas Matlewski; great niece, Violet and lifelong friend, Dan McCoy. He was also preceded in death by his parents, James and Helen Gibbs. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Heartland Hospice and John's cousin, Nancy Ray.
