MAYS, John "Bud" Halsey - age 94, of Swartz Creek, died August 4, 2024. Funeral services will be held 12 PM Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Wednesday and 11 AM - 12 PM Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Bud was born March 21, 1930 in Swartz Creek, the son of Earl Henry and Nellie (Lobdell) Mays. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War. Bud married Trixie DeMoss on August 25, 1951 and she preceded him in death on July 5, 2008. Bud retired from General Motors / Buick Division as a Millwright. He enjoyed farming and loved trips up north to the casinos. Surviving are: three children, John (Maureen) Mays, Jr., Linda (Randy) Novenske and Patricia (Ned) Sanford; grandchildren, Amy Holloway, Jill Avis, BJ Mays, David (Devin) Mays, Christina Mays, Jay (Lynsay) Sanford, Julie Sanford; many great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandson; two sisters, Barbara Knotts and Jean Green; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; Earl and Nellie Mays; wife, Trixie Mays, son, James Mays; and three siblings, Marilyn Smith, Richard Mays and Ronald Mays.
