John Hamilton

John “Bob” Hamilton, age 92, died Monday, February 21, 2022. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 25, 2022, at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc. Pastor Jim Nelson officiating. Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.Thursday, February 24, 2022. Bob was born in Maud, Oklahoma on May 21, 1929, the son of Garfield Lee Hamilton and Zuma Colston Hamilton. Bob married the love of his life, Hilda Ann Pollard on June 20, 1953. They spent their early years in the South and in 1954 they moved to Flint, Michigan where Bob worked for General Motors for almost 40 years. After raising their daughters in Michigan and upon Bob’s retirement from GM, they moved back to the South in 1990 to take care of their parents. During that time, Bob took a job at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center where he, once again, retired after 20 years of service at the Medical Center. In 2017 they returned to Flint to be close to their children. Bob was always a hard worker and perfectionist. Whether it was plowing straight rows with the tractor as a young boy on the farm, or cleaning floors, one could count on Bob to get the job done and done right! Bob loved his wife, Hilda and his three daughters Robbie, Debbie and Ginny. Bob loved serving the Lord. Throughout his life he served in his local church as a teacher, deacon and a friend to many. His commitment, kindness and gentle spirit were a blessing to all who knew him. Bob is survived by his children Robbie (Keith) Lawrence, Debbie (Reverend Kevin Knox), Ginny (Pastor Steven) Martin; four grandchildren, Robert Coon, Jeremy Martin, Jillian Crews, and Jenny Lynn Martin; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty Branum and Jerry Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his infant twin sister, his brother, Donald Hamilton, parents Garfield and Zuma Hamilton and his wife, Hilda Hamilton. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
