John Betts

Deacon John Roy Betts, Funeral services will be held 10AM Saturday, September 28 at Church Without Walls, 6202 Dupont St. Flint. Visitation will be held 2-8PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Rd. Flint, and from 9AM Saturday until the time of service at the church. Mr. Betts was born November 10, 1940 to the late Mr. Leroy and Dottie Betts in Pontotoc, Mississippi. He confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized in Mississippi. He relocated to Beloit, Wisconsin, then later to Flint, Michigan where he joined the Church Without Walls Church under the pastorate of Pastor Martez Warren, where he served as Deacon and a faithful member until death. He was gainfully employed by Truck and Bus until his health failed. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Harriet Betts for 43 years. He was preceded in death by his two children: Terry Allen, Valerie Jackson; three brothers: Ted Grady, W.B. Betts, Billy Betts; two sisters: Wiley Hall, Nora Lemon. He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife: Mrs. Harriet Betts; one daughter: Ms. Sandra Ball of Ecru, Miss.; one sister: Clara Ingram of Beloit, Wisconsin; three grandchildren: China Jackson of Douglasville, GA., India Allen of Birmingham, AL., Nigel Jackson of Montgomery, AL.; four great-grandchildren: London Tabb, A'Laja Allen, Tatiana Shelton, Tyann Sims; one brother-in-law: Jesse (Glady) Briggins of Lithonia, GA; sister-in-laws: Rose Betts of Mt. Morris, Mi., Virginia Durant of Memphis, Tenn., Emma Hayes of Bessemer, AL.; God sons: Steven Thompson, Melvin Hanson; God daughters: Elder Kathy Harrison, Joyce McCaskill, Monica Lee, Tiffany Brown, first lady Warren; Special niece: Shaqueta Tubbs; God sisters: Carol (Stuff) Goodman, Essie McCasill, Dorothy Black; special friends: Joe Porter, Maurice Mohan, Johnny Stapleton.
