BARRETT, John Joseph "Jack" - Age 84, of Hartland, went to be with his Lord, Saturday, April 18, 2015. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, April 23, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (the little church on the south side of M-59), 1991 N. Hacker Road, Howell. Fr. John Rocus celebrant. Burial in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Howell. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton Wednesday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM and at church Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. A Rosary will be prayed at the funeral home 7:00 PM Wednesday and a V.F.W. Memorial Service will be held at 7:30 PM Wednesday. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Jack was born November 1, 1930 in Jessup, PA the son of John and Gladys (Dougher) Barrett. He was a 1948 graduate of Olyphant High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. He married Ruth Mae Smith January 18, 1958 in Bedford, PA. Jack retired from Chrysler Engineering in Highland Park as a Mechanic after 35 years of service. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Howell, Knights of Columbus, U.A.W., and was a life member of the Fenton V.F.W. Curtis Wolverton Post #3243, where he served on the Honor Guard. He was a volunteer for the Hartland Fire Department, Habitat for Humanity, and St. Vincent DePaul. He also served on the Hartland Community School Board and Hartland Community Council. Surviving are: his wife of 57 years, Ruth; daughters, Lucy Navin of Flat Rock, Kathy Barrett and Ron Ginotti of Hamburg, Colleen and husband Larry Arnold of Hartland, Deanie Barrett and husband Michael Holzinger of Clarkston, and Pattie and husband Chris Thayer of Mason; grandchildren, Luke, Nick, Hannah, Claudia, and Jack; brothers, Leo and wife Nina Barrett of Dearborn and Bill and wife Carolyn Barrett of Taylor; sisters, Grace Zambo of North Carolina, Pat Palus of Berkley, and Ethel and husband Jack Baldwin of Bay City; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sharon Barrett; brothers, Paul and Leonard Barrett; and sisters, Kay Gorman, June Brennan, and Ann Barrett.
