John Ball, Jr.

BALL, John Jr. - Age 78, of Durand, passed away November 23, 2021. Funeral services will be held 12:30 PM Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Burial will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Tuesday and from 11AM until the time of service Wednesday.

John was born June 21, 1943 in West Louisville, KY. He married Linda R. Gaddis from Taylor, MI on May 7, 1966. They spent the next 55 years growing in life and love. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam as a paratrooper with the 173rd Airborne brigade. He came home, raised a family, owned printing businesses and had a lifelong love affair with fishing, boats and all things marine. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and a hero.

John is survived by his wife, Linda; children, John Eric Ball, Annessa Morley and Bethany Gorney; grandchildren, MacKenzie, Austin, Bryce, Rebecca, Nicholas and Alex; sister, Carol (Larry) Cates. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daisy and James Wilson; sisters, Irene Payne and Wilma Kirk.
