SKLENA, Johann "John" - Age 96, of Flint, died Saturday, April 14, 2007 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 1PM Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at United in Christ Lutheran Church, G-6330 Corunna Rd., Flint with Pastor Steve Stahlhut and Pastor Gilbert Mabry officiating. Burial will follow in Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be held 6-8PM Sunday, 11AM-1PM and 3-8PM Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. The family will also receive friends from 12Noon until the time of service at the church on Tuesday. Those desiring may make contributions to United in Christ Lutheran Church. John was born May 14, 1910 in Kupinovo, Austria/Hungary the son of Leopold and Maria (Horvath) Sklena. He married Eva Dautermann on February 2, 1941 in Nikinci, Yugoslavia. He and Eva came to the United States November 24, 1951. John was employed by GMPD for 23 years retiring in 1975. He was a member of United in Christ Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife Eva; 3 daughters, M. Theresa (Cliff) Mayers, Magdalena "Leni" Jennings, Eve (Norm) Brown; 7 grandchildren, Paul Mayers, David (Terri) Mayers, Bill (Lori) Jennings, Charlie (Debra) Jennings, Alana (Gary) Crum, Alyssa Brown and Adam Brown; 4 great-grandchildren, Lani, Jonathon and Jacob Mayers and, Haylee Jennings; sister, Katharina Schuller; several nieces and nephews.
