Joanne Leoni

LEONI, Joanne Rita - age 90, of Fenton, passed away at home peacefully, surrounded by her family on October 25, 2021 after a bout of cancer. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, October 29, 2021 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley St, Flint, MI 48504 with Fr. Thomas Firestone and Fr. Douglas Osborn concelebrant. A private entombment will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, MI 48430 where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM. The family will receive friends Friday from 10 AM - 11 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to St. John Vianney School or Powers Catholic High School. Mrs. Leoni was born in Detroit on November 3, 1930, the daughter of Charles and Kathleen (Courtney) Rogers and graduated from Mercy High School. She married William Leoni on April 26, 1952 and moved to Flint. Together they had 10 children in their first 11 years of marriage. She was a long time member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Mrs. Leoni was a member of Warwick Hills Country Club, the Club of Pelican Bay in Naples, FL, Christ Child Guild of Naples, FL and Care Club of Flint. She was a remarkable person with a very deep faith. She loved painting, crossword puzzles, entertaining family and was a fabulous cook. Mrs. Leoni was well known as a fashionista who never paid much attention to trends because she created her own look. Surviving are: children, Mary Ann and husband, Michael Zengerle of Fenton, William H. Leoni, Jr and wife, Cathy of Austin, TX, Elizabeth and husband, Tom Elias of Woodland Hills, CA, Patrick (Anthony) Leoni of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Michael Leoni and wife, Diane of Ann Arbor, Jean and husband, Larry Lyons of Rochester, MI, Joanne Hamo and husband, Richard Mueller of Troy, Ann and husband, Lee Hoyt of Clarkston and Kathleen (Katie) Leoni of Fenton; 19 grandchildren, Ryan Zengerle and wife, Sarah,  Ashley and husband, Brett Stacey, Christopher Leoni and wife, Megan, Joseph Leoni and wife, Alessia, William (Trey) H. Leoni III, Colby and husband, Christopher Procopio, Natalie Elias, Alexis Elias, Sophia and husband, Nojan Namakien, Dominic Leoni, John Leoni, Olivia Leoni, Nick Leoni, David Lyons and wife, Courtney, Liz and husband, John Essad, Billy McKay, Peter Hamo and wife, Sara, Anthony Hamo and wife, Amanda; and Alexander Hamo; 15 great-grandchildren, Lily and Cole Zengerle, Beau, Mack and Thomas Stacey, Gianna and Ryder Leoni, Joseph (J.J.) Leoni, Alexander and Andrew Hamo, Mateo Hamo, Lola, Sophia, and Marcella Essad, Luciana Lyons; siblings, Eileen Brennan of Bloomfield Hills and Larry Rogers of Pontiac; She was preceded in death by: her parents, Charles and Kathleen Rogers; husband, William Leoni; son, Paul Leoni; grandson, Michael Zengerle, Jr; five sisters and one brother.
