GAVULIC, Joanne Regina - Age 91, of Grand Blanc, formerly of Flint and Fenton, died December 3, 2015. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30AM Saturday, December 12, 2015, preceded by a visitation beginning 9:30AM, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton, Michigan. Burial will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will also be held 1PM-8PM Friday, December 11, 2015, with a Rosary service at 7PM, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Those desiring may make contributions to St. John Church for the purpose of their Community Outreach Ministries. Joanne was born February 12, 1924 in Portage, PA, the daughter of John and Catherine (Novorolnik) Ligas. She was married to David B. Gavulic on August 10, 1946; he preceded her in death on January 1, 2003. Mrs. Gavulic was a Librarian at the Flint Public Library retiring in 1992 and also served in the Navy Department in Washington D.C. during WWII. Mrs. Gavulic was a life member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Flint and was currently a member of St. John the Evangelist. She enjoyed reading, playing Pinochle; was active in church ministry and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She is survived by her children, David M. Gavulic, Kathleen (Thomas) Gavulic-Anderson, Paula C. (Philip) Sampson, Gary J. Gavulic, Mark A. (Deborah) Gavulic, 10 grandchildren; Jennifer (Manel) Modesto, Ashley (Ben) Worden, Alexander, Abigail, Olivia, Julia, and George Gavulic, Nicholas and D'arcy Sampson, step-granddaughter Lena Sampson, as well as two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four sisters; Marie, Agnes, Caroline and Violet, and her brother; Joseph Ligas.
