Joanne Erickson

ERICKSON, Joanne Elizabeth (Smith) - Age 84, of Grand Blanc, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2020. Funeral service will take place 11 AM Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, 5069 Fairchild St, Swartz Creek. Burial will follow in Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will take place Tuesday from 5 PM to 8 PM at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church and again Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of service. Those desiring may make contributions to Sovereign Grace Baptist Church.

Joanne was born on February 15, 1936, in Flint, the daughter of Lestor and Kathryn (Alexander) Smith. She graduated from Flint Technical High School. Joanne and Loren Erickson were united in marriage on December 20, 1957 in Fenton. She worked for Grand Blanc Schools in the Kitchen before her retirement. Joanne was a member of the Sovereign Grace Baptist Church. She was a pianist, deaconess, librarian and Sunday school teacher for the church for many years. In her free time, she enjoyed hummingbirds, spending time with her family, playing the piano, sewing, and reading.

She is survived by her loving husband, Loren Erickson; 3 children, Steve (Teresa) Erickson, Nancy (Scott) Welliver and Leonard Erickson; 18 grandchildren, Laura (Carlos), Joseph (Sarah), Anna (Joel), Zachary, Caleb, Tiffany, Crystalyn (Andy), Kaylee (Kevin), Phillip, Stephanie, Daniel (Ashley), Kathryn (David), Kassandra (Elliot) Alisha, Amelia (Klayton), Joanne, Geoffrey and Emma; 23 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Paul Wagner; daughter-in-law, Deborah Ginn; and brother, Kenneth (Sharon) Smith.
