DANN, Joann Frances - Age 85, of Swartz Creek, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 25, 2024 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Road, Swartz Creek with Fr. Louis Ekka celebrant. Cremation will follow with a burial taking place at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will take place from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, March 24 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, with praying of the rosary at 6:00 PM. On Monday morning Joann will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Joann was born on October 15, 1938 in Clio, the daughter of the late Charles and Frances (Hasman) Hersch. She graduated from Chesaning High School, class of 1956, where she was the majorette for the high school band and involved in several activities. Joann continued her education by receiving an associate degree in business administration from Baker College. She was united in marriage to Jim Dann on June 15, 1974 in Owosso. Joann held different secretarial positions with Corunna High School, City of Owosso, Memorial Hospital, and the State of Michigan House of Representatives. She loved hosting and spending time with her family during the holidays, going up north to the lake and showering her grandchildren with gifts. Joann was a member of the Czechoslovak Society of America. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, ceramics, antiques, and home renovations.
She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Jim Dann; children, Pamela (Les) Diebolt, Doug (Marcia) Franks, Lisa Tipton, Chris (Annalisa) Franks and Andrea Crocker; grandchildren, Jocelyn Diebolt, Jillian (Rodrigo) Martinez, Justin Franks, Kelsey Franks, Collin Tipton, Alyssa Tipton, Sydney Franks, Jackson Franks, Samantha Crocker; great-granddaughter, Emilia Martinez; sisters, Carlene Gross and Elaine Hersch; niece, Beverly (Brian) Fournier; and nephew, Brent Crane.
