Wilcox, Joan Louise “Joey” - Age 97, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the Landings of Genesee Valley in Flint. Private arrangements were entrusted to Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the First Congregational Church of Grand Blanc or the Alzheimer’s Association.


Joey was born in Elgin, Illinois on March 19, 1926 to Clarence and Cora (Sandberg) Crafts. She married James E. Wilcox in Rockford, Illinois on September 13, 1953. Sadly, he predeceased her in 1991. Joey was very active member of the First Congregational Church of Grand Blanc participating in the Art Guild, Stephen Ministries and Choir. She had many friends in her church family. She loved to cook, bake, sew and was an avid reader. Most of all, she loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be forever missed by all who loved her.


She is survived her children, Ann (Marty) Saltiel and Jim (Dottie) Wilcox; grandchildren, Jim (Colene) Wilcox, Danielle (Koeun) Tong, Dan (Maria) Saltiel, Sara (Adam Carter) Saltiel, Cassie (Zac Rousseau) Wilcox; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Adelynn and Paxton Wilcox, Judah, Eden and Noa Tong; niece and nephews, Kathy Jenkins, Tom Jenkins and Jeb Brooks.


In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Barbara Jenkins. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to hospices nurses Jaina, Caron and Michelle and the staff at The Landings of Genesee Valley for their compassionate care of our Mom the last week of her life. tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
