SLOAN, Joan Betty - Â of Linden, age 72, died unexpectedly on Monday, July 10, 2006. Â She was born in Flint on April 12, 1934, daughter of Ted and Nonie Vaughan, who proceeded her in death. Â She was married to William Sloan for 53 years, and together they raised their family in Linden. She is survived by her husband Bill, her brothers Robert Vaughan of Austin, Texas, and Tom Vaughan and his wife Roberta of Ft. Collins, Colorado and her five children: Vicky Sloan of Redford, New York; Bob Sloan of Linden; Barbara Guenther and husband Todd of Lander, Wyoming; Kim Carnes and husband Keith of Haslett, Michigan; and Christine Sloan of Huber Heights, Ohio. Â She was very proud of her grandchildren Christopher, Erik and Matthew Koskinen, Jeremiah and Shawn Sloan, Nate and Larkin Guenther, Kyle and Erin Carnes, and Kelly Sloan. Joan loved to travel with Bill, and looked forward to family reunions around the country, but her favorite place was at home on Byram Lake. Â Her love of wildlife and nature inspired her family to appreciate the world around them. She was dedicated to her family, and she will be sadly missed. Visitation will be on Friday, July 14 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Sharp Funeral Home, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden followed by a Celebration of Life at 6:00. Â In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Audobon Society, in memory of Joan's love of birds.
