Joan Hibbeln

HIBBELN, Joan C.- Age 84, of Linden, died on January 13, 2015. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1:30 PM Saturday, January 17, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide Street, Fenton. Fr. Jim Rolph celebrant. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad Street, Linden Friday from 4-9 PM and at church Saturday from 12:30 PM until the time of Mass. A time of sharing will be held at the funeral home Friday at 7:00 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association. Joan was born July 25, 1930 in Detroit, the daughter of Gardiner and Vera (Kogelschatz) Goodson. She was a 1948 graduate of Cooley High School. She married Richard Peter Hibbeln on May 7, 1955 in Detroit and he preceded her in death January 26, 2008. Joan retired from the Linden School District as secretary after 19 years of service. She resided in Linden since 1969 (most of those years on Lobdell Lake), coming from Detroit. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where she also served on the funeral luncheon committee. Surviving are: daughters, Karen Benore and John Waldoch of Grand Blanc, Denise and husband Mark Kotylo of Commerce Township, Julie and husband John Beauchamp of Wisconsin, and Kathy and husband John Knickerbocker of Swartz Creek; 9 grandchildren, Renee (Chris) Blynt, Rachel (Bryan) Leith, Stephanie (Mark) Brewer, Taylor Miller (Stephen), Tracy Miller (Mike), Nick Beauchamp (Nicole), Natalie Stuhr (Jesse), Angie Beauchamp, and Drew Knickerbocker (Taylor) and 6 great grandchildren, Berkley, Beckham, Alivia, Agnes, Jadyn, and Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
