Joan Eaker

October 16, 1938 — November 20, 2019

EAKER, Joan Shirley (Hubble) - Age 81, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2019.  Joan, a long time resident of the Fenton/Holly area, was born October 16, 1938 in Holly to Gerald Hubble Sr. and Jessie Edith (Pringle) Hubble-Hartner.  She had two older brothers, Bertrand and Gerald, Jr.  Joan graduated from Holly High School and later worked for GM as an assembly worker.

Joan was especially good at keeping secrets.  She is survived by her 4 children; from her first marriage over 60+ years ago, April Malis of Ann Arbor, Valencia  (Malis) Najera of West Virginia, Steven P. Malis of Flint; from her second marriage her daughter, Molly (Eaker) McEacheron of Stuart, FL;  many wonderful grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, several of whom unfortunately she had never met.  Also in Joan's life,  her niece-in-law, Kathleen Eaker and her long-time companion and friends, we thank you all for your kindness and support, you know who you are.

For those who knew her, she loved animals, perhaps too much at times, especially cats.  She always had an open door to help feed and care for animals.

In closing, let us all remember Joan as a person, who may have brought joy to some and bitterness to others; please remember that "letting go" is not to judge, but rather to allow another to have lived as a human being.  She lived a long life and we should celebrate the time between the day she entered this world and the day she left it.  We encourage others to do the same.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.  Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, MI 48430.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to the family to assist with expenses c/o the Joan Eaker Memorial Fund or the Genesee County Animal Shelter.  Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
