Joan Byrd

BYRD, Joan - Age 81, died peacefully in her sleep at home on October 15, 2021. She went to spend eternity with her Heavenly Father, whom she served faithfully here on Earth. Joan was a member of at Flint Baptist Temple for over 40 years. A funeral service will be held 11AM Tuesday, October 19 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Pastor Glenn Tatterson officiating. Visitation will take place 3-8PM Monday at the funeral home.

Joan was a graduate from Eastern Michigan University. She worked in the Real Estate industry for 45 years. She served on the Flint Board of Realtors for many years and also was a licensed appraiser for over 30 years. She continued working in real estate up until her passing. Joan loved watching sports, football, NASCAR, playing fantasy football, card and board games, fishing, and traveling. Most importantly, Joan loved spending time with her family.

Joan is survived by her brother, Bill Treichel; sister, Mary Jean (Herb) Holmquist; her children, Joe (Diane) and Jeff Tenbusch, Jamie (Mark) Oliver, and Timothy (Stephanie) Byrd; grandchildren, Nicholas Booth and Justin Tenbusch, Trevor (Katelyn) Byrd, James (Lori) Oliver, and Sabrina Byrd; great-grandchildren, James, Rebecca, Noah, and Faith Oliver. Joan is survived by three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her very best friends in life, Judy Stinson and Sharon Aktins. Joan will be greatly missed but forever loved.
