Jim Phillips

PHILLIPS, Jim - Age 72, of Swartz Creek, died Friday, December 18, 2020.  Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek (Live Streaming of the service can be viewed on Jim's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com).  Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday, December 28, 2020 from 4-8 PM.  In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Jim Phillips Memorial Fund, make checks payable to Sharon Phillips, for his grandchildren's education.

Jim was born February 5, 1948 in Flint, the son of Percy and Rosabelle (Bandy) Phillips.  He was a 1966 graduate of Swartz Creek High and he received a Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University of Michigan Flint.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was a paratrooper.  Jim retired in 2008 from GM Chevrolet V8 Engine Plant after 35 years of service.  He was a member of U.A.W. Local 659.  He enjoyed horse racing, playing cards, going to the casino's, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving are: his wife of 50 years, Elaine; 3 children, Michael (Christy) Phillips of Windsor, VA, Brett (Diane) Phillips of Davison, and d'Andra (Dan) Francis of Stevens Point, WI; grandchildren, Brandon, Elizabeth, Gracie, Brady, Bodie, and Breck; great grandson, Wesley; half sister, Linda Olin of Durand; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carolyn Beckwith; step brother, David Hill; and step sister, Peggy Hunt.  Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
