Jill D. STIPES

STIPES, Jill D., age 63, of Grand Blanc, formerly of Lake Fenton, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Genesys Hospice Care Center. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Visitation will be Wednesday 5-9PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Jill D. Stipes Memorial Fund. Jill was born March 5, 1949 in Flint the daughter of the late Roy E. and Doris D. Manker. She graduated from Southwestern High School and later from Central Michigan University. Jill married Tom Stipes in 1973 at "Jirodoshar" in Charlevoix and he preceded her in death in 1999. She was employed as a teacher, educating students at Flint Schools, Donovan North and Lake Fenton Schools. Jill spent summers from 1953 through young adulthood at beautiful "Jirodoshar" on Lake Michigan, just south of Charlevoix. Her family built a beautiful guest house and log cottage 1951-1955 and spent every summer there for more than 30 wonderful years. She is survived by daughter, Whitney Stipes of Grand Blanc; step-daughters, Fenton and husband Paul Penna of Colorado, Miles and husband Peter Copeland of Colorado; favorite cousins, Linda and Gary Warfield, Candy and Joe Dunigan; several aunts, uncles, cousins and lots of friends.
