Pavelich, Jerry Steve "Uncle Jerry"; died Wednesday September 30, 2009 at Genesys Health Care Center. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, October 5, 2009 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton with Rev. Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp. Jerry was born in Flint, Michigan on July 21, 1924 to parents Jerko and Katie (Stilinovich) Pavelich. Jerry was a stand out athlete at Flint Northern High School and played for famed coach Guy V. Houston. After a brief stint with GM Jerry proudly served as member of the United States Army and was a part of the invasion of Omaha Beach during the D-Day invasion. He later went on to work for Papp's Drug Store. Mr. Pavelich was proud of his Croatian heritage and spoke the language fluently. Jerry spent most of his life in downtown Flint. Although he owned no phone or car he was the easiest guy in Genesee County to find. Just stand at Saginaw and First Street and within a few minutes he'd walk up. He lived a simple life, but enriched it for so many others. He leaves to cherish his memory sister Mary Floria and husband Mike along with many nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Katie Barber, brothers Anthony and Mike Pavelich also niece Debbie Fusi. Jerry enjoyed a special relationship with his nephew Dave Barber formally of Grand Blanc, now living in Providence, RI.
