Jerry Montague

Jerry Joseph Montague, age 56, of Burton, MI passed away on Friday, August 16, 2019 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, MI surrounded by family and close friends. Family, friends, and others whose lives Jerry touched are invited to a memorial service at 4:00 PM on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Community of Christ, 2120 Wilmar St., Burton, MI 48509.  Those desiring may make contributions to the Old Newsboys.

Jerry was born on December 17, 1962, in Durand, MI to Larry and Doris (Vaughn) Montague. He graduated from Carman-Ainsworth High School. He married Melissa Lynn on February 24, 1985 and both found more love than they’d ever know. Together they had two daughters, Samantha Jo and Sarah Lee. His family was his pride and joy and he cherished the times spent together, especially with his girls.

Jerry was many things, but none more so than a family man. He was the son that didn’t cause as much trouble as his five siblings; the brother who was always there, despite differences; the devoted husband who loved with his whole heart; a loving father and daughter’s best friend; the proud grandpa who was wrapped around his granddaughters finger; the favorite uncle; the one who kept in touch, treated his friends like family and was always willing to help.

He loved his country and was a fan of any team from Michigan, but especially liked the Detroit Lions. He liked the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching the sunset. He liked playing pool and was always ready for a family poker game. He enjoyed car shows and cruises but also working on his Malibu and showing it off. He loved spending time with family and friends and touched the lives of so many.

Jerry joins his parents Larry and Doris Montague and daughter Sarah in heaven. He is survived by his wife, Melissa; daughter, Samantha; granddaughters, SarahJo, RemiJo, AnahJo and Shyanne; siblings, Larry (Julie), Jim, Toni, Scott (Twila), and Jeff (Brenda); many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
