Jennie Vincent

February 23, 1920 — May 4, 2017

VINCENT, Jennie H. (Waterous-Hendricks), died at Sugarbush Manor in Flint on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the age of 97. Jennie is survived by her children, Norma (Harold) Smith of Fenton, Bruce (Myrna) Hendricks of Millersburg, MI, Mary Ann (Chris) Podjun of Casper, WY, Mervin (Sharon) Vincent of Covington, WA, Gail McDonald of Swartz Creek; son-in-law, Dave Lonsbury of Fenton; daughter-in-law, Sandra Vincent of Phoenix, AZ; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; first husband, Carl T. Hendricks; second husband, Basil D. Vincent; son, Merton Vincent; daughter, Shirley Lonsbury; son-in-law, Ron McDonald; great-grandson, Curtis Petry. Jennie was born on February 23, 1920 during a great snowstorm in Mundy Twp., MI to Edward and Ernestine J. Waterous. She was their fourth and final child. She graduated from Grand Blanc High School in 1937 and on September 2 of that year she married Carl T. Hendricks. After moving to their farm on Ray Rd. in Fenton, Jennie began driving school bus for Lake Fenton Schools, which she did from 1956-1966, when she was then hired by USPS in Fenton and was a mail carrier there for 15 years. In 1979 Jennie married Basil D. Vincent and they spent 13 years happily married. Our Jennie's legacy is one of love and devotion to family, selflessness and hard work. She had a heart of pure kindness, generosity and sharing. Jennie especially enjoyed hosting or attending a party with family and friends. She loved the Lord and we know she's in her eternal home in heaven at the right hand of Jesus. These are the very lessons she taught in her early days as Sunday School Teacher for Lake Fenton United Methodist Church, and later as a member of her beloved South Mundy United Methodist Church. She's been an active member there and was South Mundy's Church Elder. Jennie was well loved by all and will be deeply mourned. A visitation will be held 12-9 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden with funeral services being held 11 AM Monday, May 8, 2017. Rev. Dr. Tara Sutton will officiate. A luncheon will follow at South Mundy United Methodist Church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jennie's life. The family would like to thank The Medical Team Hospice for all their attention to detail, dedication and commitment during Jennie's difficult illness and passing. Special thanks to Ashley, Michael, Sharon and Mika.
