SPENCER, Jeffrey W. age 55, of Fenton, formerly of Swartz Creek, died Monday, May 30, 2005 at his residence. Funeral Services will be held 4 PM Saturday, June 4, 2005 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, Pastor Lawrence Gill officiating. Military honors will be performed under the auspices of Fenton V.F.W. Curtis-Wolverton Post #3243. Visitation will be held 7-9 PM Friday and 12 PM until the time of service on Saturday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Craig Hospital in Englewood, CO, where Jeffrey was treated after his injuries in a water skiing accident, many years ago. Jeffrey was born October 14, 1949 in Flint, the son of Harold and Alta (Loveland) Spencer. He was a graduate of Swartz Creek High School, he also attended Mott Community College and University of Michigan, Flint. Jeffrey was a veteran of the U.S. Army, in the Military Police, where he served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded numerous medals, including; National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He was also very active in sports before his injury. Jeffrey married Michelle Shenkel on October 16, 1976 in Durand. He had been employed by General Motors, Fisher Body, Plant 1. Surviving are: wife, Michelle; mother, Alta Spencer of Swartz Creek; mother-in-law, Ronnie Finn of Durand; three brothers, Terry (Lynn) Spencer of Swartz Creek; Scott (Leslie) Spencer of Sebring, FL; Eric (fiancee, Angela) Spencer of Swartz Creek; several nieces and nephews.
