Jeane was born in the city of Manado on the Indonesian island of North Sulawesi on June 5th, 1942 to her parents Petrus Titaley and Jacoba Wenas. She lived there until she finished high school. She then left for the Indonesian capital city, Jakarta, to organize and perform traditional Indonesian dances at National events including a performance at the Indonesian Presidential Palace. It was in Jakarta where she first met her husband, Dr. Adam B. Slangor. They were married in 1966 and had two kids in Jakarta: Lisi Monika Helena Slangor (1967) and Perry Barman Slangor (1970). The family left Jakarta in 1972 because Adam was sent to the US by Indonesia’s Federal Reserve to earn his Master’s and Phd degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison and Milwaukee. During this time Jeane and Adam made many wonderful friends in the Madison and Milwaukee area and also welcomed their third child, Wisson Piet Slangor (1974). After Adam completed his doctorate degree, they went back to Jakarta in 1977. Not long afterward, the family was introduced to a WELS missionary Bob Sawall through their friends in Milwaukee. It was then that Jeane became a confirmed Lutheran member of Gereja Lutheran Indonesia.

The family moved again because Adam took a job with the United Nations and was stationed in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago. It had been a dream for Jeane to send her children to a Christian school and college in the US. God’s hand was at work to make Jeane’s dream possible. This became a reality through the work of Pastor Sawall and MLS president Dr. John Lawrenz as well as lots of sacrifice and commitment made by Jeane and her husband. Lisi enrolled as a senior and Perry as a freshman to become MLS’ first Asian international students. Wisson moved with them and attended St Paul’s Lutheran Elementary School. All three would go on to graduate from MLS and earn their college degrees in the US.

In 1995 Adam was called home by our Savior and since then Jeane would travel between the US and Indonesia visiting her children and grandchildren. She loved to sing, play the piano and guitar with the grandchildren, chat with her friends on the phone, go on road trips and airplane flights, shop at the mall, and go out to eat with family and friends. Most of all, Jeane loved her Lord and Savior. Her favorite songs include: Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, and One Day at a Time Sweet Jesus.

Jeane was very thankful that through MLS her children and grandchildren were given a strong foundation in God’s Word and Christian values. Because of her love for this school the family would like to have any memorials be given to Michigan Lutheran Seminary.

Jeane was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She is survived by her children: Lisi (Hari), Perry (Tiurma), Wisson (Sarah), and her grandchildren: Jochanan, Pierson, Eli (Ellie), Ella and Ethan; sister: Eugenie Entjung.

The family mourns her death but celebrates the victory she has in the blood and resurrection of Jesus Christ. To God be the Glory!
