Jean Coselman

COSELMAN, Jean Ethel - age 87 of Lapeer, formerly of Flint, died on January 15, 2017. Jean was an eldest twin who was born August 15, 1929. She is the daughter of Wilfred and Gladys (Drew) Harvey. Immediate burial with no service or viewing has been chosen. Jean graduated from Dye High School in 1947 with an award for perfect attendance. After graduation, she worked at Soos Ben Franklin & Department Store and was eventually promoted as Book Keeper. She was dedicated to her family and to the care of her home. She enjoyed cleaning and being outdoors during the summer, pulling weeds, planting flowers, and pruning trees. She was a talented accordion player and often entertained the family, church and nursing home residents. She liked to play hymns and polkas the most. She had a talent for writing poetry as well. In her younger years, she taught Junior Church at West Flint Church of the Nazarene. Her class began small, but then grew to be quite large. She captured the children's attention with object lessons and crafts, giving prizes to those who memorized scripture. Jean retired from J. L. Hudson's in 1994. Throughout her many years of service, she earned several awards for outstanding customer service and the attractive display of merchandise in her department. Jean is survived by two of her four children, the eldest, Janet Anderson and youngest, Cathy Madden, her siblings, Edmund Harvey (Mabel) and Ida Stayt ( Floyd) grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, twin sister Joyce Laird, grandson John Sands and two daughters, Diane Coselman and Susan Balentine.
