Janice Joyce Maxton

Maxton, Janice Joyce, age 67, a resident of Milford/Holly for 37 years  died at her home, in the care of her family after a 6 1/2 year battle with breast cancer on Monday, September 18, 2006.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated 3:30PM Thursday, September 21, 2006 at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 309 E. Maple, Holly. Fr. Dave Blazek celebrant. Visitation will be held 11AM-2PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd. Fenton. A Rosary will be prayed 2PM Thursday at the funeral home with procession to church to follow for Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Maryville Retreat Center. Janice was the daughter of Raymond and Ruby (Simmons) Sloan. She was a graduate of Academy of Notre Dame in Belleville, Illinois. She married Roland Frierdich in 1958 and they raised 3 sons and 2 daughters. After staying home and raising her 5 children for 20 years, Janice decided to work for the Huron Valley School System. She began her career at Muir Middle School, and was the first ever athletic secretary for the district. She retired after 25 years of service from Huron Valley Schools in 2000. She re-married her late husband Larry Maxton in 1986, who passed away in 2005. Janice inspired her family with her deep faith in the Catholic religion. She experienced great joy in her family, friends, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She shared her hope, beliefs and strengths with all. Janice Maxton is survived by children, Stephen Frierdich of Madison Heights, Raymond (Carrie) Frierdich of Pearl, MS, Cyndi Fowler of San Diego, CA, Christine (Chris) Champlin of Fenton and Mark (Jennie) Frierdich of Linden.
