Fenton, formerly Grand Rapids

Francisco, Janice Joyce - age 90, of Fenton, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022. Jan was born on August 13, 1932 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Philip and Florice (Symons) Gregerson. She married David Francisco on February 6, 1954. Jan was a graduate of Battle Creek Lakeview High School and Western Michigan University. Her first priority was as a homemaker and raising her family. When her children went to school, she started volunteering and then working in the library at Huff Elementary School and East Leonard Elementary School. She loved sharing the wonder of books with children. She was a long-time member at Second Congregational Church and served in many ways. Jan was a helper, a leader, and an organizer. She brought energy and impact to the many volunteer groups in which she participated, including Grand Rapids Public Museum and North End Neighborhood Association, to name a few. Jan cherished her friendships and relationships. She shared many fun times and much laughter at high school class reunions, various bridge clubs, pinochle group, Fat Boy breakfasts, and Sunday meals after church. Jan had a passion for travel. She and Dave traveled together to all 50 states and 13 countries. She loved old movies, plays/musicals/concerts, anything Disney, and jigsaw puzzles. And she had an endless sweet tooth: chocolate, Schaum Torte with raspberries, and root beer floats were some of her favorites. Her grandchildren will always remember the personal birthday cakes and warm hugs that she shared with them. Surviving are: her beloved husband of 68 years, David; daughter, Diane (Dave) Wujciak of Fenton; son, Gregg (Jill) Francisco of Cicero, IN; grandchildren, Anna, Sara (Michael), Luke, Lara, Nicholas.   Jan’s funeral service will be held at 3PM on Monday, December 26 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, MI.  Pastor Max Hayden will be officiating.  Live streaming will be available on her obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.  Visitation will be held from 2PM until the time of the service.  Interment will begin at 11:30AM on Tuesday, December 27 in the Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Rd, Augusta, MI.
