Janet Lee Sroonian

SROONIAN, Janet Lee, age 91, formerly from Swartz Creek, passed away on November 26, 2024, at Munson Medical Center at the side of her daughter and son-in-law. Janet was born March 26, 1933, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Thelma and Churchill Williams. She married the love of her life, Amos Sroonian, in 1950. She lived most of her life in Flint/Swartz Creek with her loving husband of 64 years, and their two children Sandra and David. She worked retail at Hudson’s in the Genesee Valley Center. In 2018, Janet moved to Traverse City to live near her daughter. 

She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and neighbor. Her fondest memories were going to Houghton Lake since she was a child and spending time with family and friends at her home. She loved all animals and was known to take in any stray cat or dog in the neighborhood. She always said if she were a millionaire, she would build a haven for all animals that needed a home. Janet enjoyed gardening, swimming, dancing, and having cocktails with her husband, family, and friends. 

Surviving are daughter, Sandra Lee and husband, Terry Boyd; two grandchildren, Corinne Boyd (Preston Sanford) and Riley Boyd (Sydney Spring). She was preceded in death by her son, David Mark Sroonian, in 1981 and her husband, Amos Martin Sroonian in 2014. Also loved and cherished by many extended family and friends, including her dear friend Janet Petrowski and her deceased oldest friend, Helen Martin. 

Services will be held 1PM Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday. Interment will follow at Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Genesee County Humane Society (https://geneseehumane.org/give/online-donation/).
