December 18, 1937 — May 3, 2011

PETERSON, Janet Lee - age 73, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Services will be held 11 AM Monday, May 9, 2011 at Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Rev. Dr. JD Landis officiating. Interment will follow at Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Saturday and 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Swartz Creek United Methodist Church Building Fund. Mrs. Peterson was born December 18, 1937 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Henry L. and Alberta (Chrisman) Kelly and was a 1956 graduate of Keokuk High School. Janet also attended Keokuk Junior College. She married William John Peterson on June 20, 1959. She had resided in Swartz Creek since 1984 coming from Ft. Madison, IA. She was an active member of Swartz Creek United Methodist Church serving on the Council of Churches and singing in the choir. Mrs. Peterson was also a member of O.E.S. #430 where she served as chaplain for 2 years. Surviving are: husband, William J. Peterson; three children, Sherry Lynn Peterson of Swartz Creek, Tim William (Susan) Peterson of Fulton, MO, Christin Michelle Peterson of Swartz Creek; six grandchildren, Cameron, Caleb and Jesse Peterson, Travis, Brian and Michael Geren; brother, William L. (Sue) Kelly of Galesburg, IL; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may share an online tribute on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
