Boedecker, Janet Kay (Jarbeau) - Age 68, of Burton, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021. Due to the current pandemic, in lieu of a funeral service, Janet will be cremated and a celebration of life memorial service will take place once it is safe for people to gather. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Rd. Grand Blanc. Janet was born February 22, 1953 in Flint, the daughter of James and Thelma Jarbeau. After graduating from Bentley High School, Janet went on to work at Dupont for many years as a specialist before receiving her Associate's degree from Baker College in 1997 and working as a CNA at Genesys Hospice. On September 6, 1980 she married William (Butch) Boedecker. Together they raised one son, Jonathan and frequently spent time with Butch's son, Matthew from a previous marriage. Together Janet and Butch enjoyed traveling to Zephyrhills, Florida where they spent many winters. Janet enjoyed crafting, camping, NASCAR races and reading. A prolific crocheter, Janet made the most beautiful blankets and other projects which she and Butch sold at craft shows around the Flint area. Janet was also particularly fond of gardening and puttering around her flower beds at their home in Brandywine Estates in Davison and later, Lapeer Heights in Burton. When she wasn't crafting, gardening, or working, Janet and her family could be found enjoying nature at one of the local campgrounds or perusing for Coca-Cola products, Dupont and Jeff Gordon memorabilia as well as many other antiques. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan (Jennifer); stepson, Matthew; younger brother, Jeff (Patty) Jarbeau; beloved dog, Sophie; along with several brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; and family friends, particularly lifelong friends Judy Harris and Glenda Breidenstein. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, James (2007) and Thelma (2012) Jarbeau; her older brother, Terry Jarbeau (1999); aunt Ruth Arnott (2006); husband, William (Butch) Boedecker (2019).
