Jane Harwood

HARWOOD, Jane Lucille - Age 85, of Swartz Creek, passed away March 3, 2022. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Contributions in  Jane's name appreciated to Swartz Creek Senior Center, Swartz Creek Fine Arts Association, or South Mundy United Methodist Church.

Jane was born October 31, 1936 in Swartz Creek, the daughter of George & Hila (Dennis) O'Brien. She was a 1954 graduate of Mary Crapo Swartz Creek, in which she still spent much time reminiscing with her former classmates. Jane married Billy Don Harwood July 27, 1957 in Flint. She was a longtime Lunch Lady at Swartz Creek Schools, dedicated much of her time as a 4-H Leader and sewing teacher, and was active at T.O.P.S. where she made many adopted sisters as well as the Red Hat Society. Jane enjoyed attending the Swartz Creek Summer Concert Series at the Fred & Phyllis Pajtas Theatre, and she was very well known for her incredible cooking, especially her famous cookies and cinnamon rolls.

Surviving are: her husband, Billy Don of Swartz Creek; her children, Susie (Rick) Mitchell of Gaines Twp., Matt (Phyllis) Harwood of Missouri; and Steve (Kim) Harwood of Grand Blanc; her siblings, Bill O'Brien of Linden, and Vada (the late Doug) Masak of Cadillac; her grandchildren, Sandy Mitchell, Wendy (Greg) Fowler, Kyle (Kayla) Harwood, Katlin (P.K.) Schelb, Donovan Harwood, and Allyson Harwood; her great grandchildren; Aeton Fowler, and Cole Harwood; her sisters-in-laws, Margaret O'Brien of Sunfield, and Arlene OBrien of Swartz Creek; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded by: her siblings, Bob O'Brien, Chester O'Brien, and Harold O'Brien; sister-in-law Edna (the late Merrill) Harris; dear friends and cousins, Laura Vanderford, and Mary Andrykovich; and several cousins and nieces & nephews.
