KNOBELSDORF, Jan "Papa John" - Age 91, of Fenton, formerly of Detroit, coming from Poland in 1950, died Thursday, November 26, 2009 at Argentine Care Center. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10 AM Monday, November 30, 2009 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Followed by Mililtary honors under the auspices of Fenton V.F.W Curtis-Wolverton Post #3243. Burial will be in St. Hedwig Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. A Vigil service will be held 5PM Sunday and a V.F.W. memorial service at 7 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the Fenton V.F.W. Honor Guard. Jan was born January 10, 1918 in Poland, the son of Mieczyslaw and Anna (Mroczkowski) Knobelsdorf. He was a member of the Polish Roman Catholic Union, Knight of Columbus, Assumption BVM in Detroit, St Peter and Paul in Detroit and St. John in Fenton. He was president of DAD's Auxiliary and a member of the Men's Auxiliary of the Fenton V.F.W Curtis-Wolverton Post. Mr. Knobelsdorf retired from Mobil Oil in 1980, with 28 years of service. Surviving are: daughter, Maria and husband John Stimac of Fenton; son, Thaddeus and wife Geraldine Knobelsdorf of Shelby Twp.; grandchildren, Donna Bonino, Kathy Kauffman, Brian Stimac, Kevin Stimac, John Raymond Stimac; great-grandchildren, Dailee Mae Stimac, Matthew, Andrew and Caroline Kauffman, Danica and Sullivan Stimac; sister, Tosia Bednarski. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Olga in 1942; his second wife, Bronislawa in 1987; three brothers and three sisters.
